How safe is the water in New York City schools?


While common core, teacher quality and class size are often in the forefront of education-related issues, a new concern has popped up recently in New York City schools — the quality of the water. Water from taps in 35 public school buildings on Staten Island had elevated levels of lead in tests this year, according to the city. Elevated lead levels were recorded in March and April after the city began retesting water at every school in each of the boroughs for the first time in more than a decade. more
