Happy Thanksgiving!
As we lead into the Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to extend to each of you and your families a warm Thanksgiving greeting.

Thanksgiving is an expression of gratitude. Special ceremonies are held to give thanks for bountiful harvests, health and family amongst many religions.

The first documented Thanksgiving celebration was held in 1621, where the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared a feast as thanks for a good harvest. For over two centuries, days of Thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. Thanksgiving Day was officially declared a national holiday in 1863 by President Abraham Lincoln and was to be held in November. Today, we celebrate Thanksgiving Day on the fourth Thursday in November as set by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939 (;

Some fun facts about Thanksgiving Day include:
  • Minnesota is the top turkey-producing state in America (U.S. Census Bureau)
  • Six states – Minnesota, North Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri, Virginia and Indiana – account for nearly two-thirds of the 248 million plus turkeys raised (U.S. Census Bureau)
  • An estimated 46 million turkeys, one fifth of the annual total of 235 million consumed in the United States, were eaten at Thanksgiving (National Turkey Federation).
  • Nearly 88 percent of Americans said they eat turkey at Thanksgiving, and the average weight of turkeys purchased is 15 pounds (National Turkey Federation).
While we celebrate family and friends and good fortunes on Thanksgiving Day, we should strive to do so everyday. We never know what life will bring us at any given time so we should be thankful for what we do have every day.

ratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings." - William Arthur Ward

I want to thank each of you for what you have and are doing for PBUS. PBUS will stand with you and beside you as we continue to fight for our industry.
