From President Donald Trump's potential impact on agriculture to farm prices and programs, University of Wisconsin-Madison agricultural economist Paul Mitchell provided an early riser policy potpourri at the Corn/Soy EXPO in Wisconsin Dells. Mitchell had more questions than answers about Trump, including whether the new president understands agriculture. "My concern is that agriculture will become collateral damage as (Trump) pursues other goals," said Mitchell of presidential agendas such as immigration and trade. He also said agriculture appears far down Trump's priority list, evidenced by the late nomination of Sonny Perdue as secretary of agriculture compared to other appointments. more
