How to use less solvents in sample prep
from Lab Manager
The move toward greener chemistry extends to sample preparation, because reducing or eliminating solvents can make preparation more environmentally friendly. Going solvent-free also "reduces background contamination from other materials, including glassware used in sample prep," says Gary Stidsen, sample handling business manager at Restek (Bellefonte, PA). Solventless sample preparation also allows one to move directly from sample collection to analysis, Stidsen says.
