Option enrollment plan to affect transportation

from Omaha World-Herald

The process for students to attend schools outside their home district is changing over the next few years. Open enrollment will soon be replaced with option enrollment, a change spurred by a state law passed in 2016. The switch will take place in Bellevue Public Schools over a five-year period starting with the 2017–2018 school year. Over that period, students from outside their home district entering kindergarten, seventh-grade and ninth-grade will need to apply through option enrollment. That buffer period will "grandfather" students who were already attending a Bellevue school through open enrollment without having them transfer districts in the middle of elementary, middle or high school. more
