Message from the NFAIS Executive Director:

Marcie Granahan,
NFAIS Executive Director
Open science—including accessibility to and use of open research data—is anticipated to grow over the next several years. Data mining of large data sets is on the rise, and a trend that is expected to continue.

Inside this issue of NFAIS Advances, check out New website monitors open science worldwide; Open-data contest unearths scientific gem—and controversy; and Welcome Kaggle to Google Cloud, as well as the NFAIS Community Forum, where I consider whether the analysis of open data could become the primary source of new research findings.

If you missed last month’s NFAIS Annual Conference, click here for a complete summary, or check out http://bit.ly/2m5EZCV for pictures of the event.

We hope you enjoy reading this week’s issue of NFAIS Advances! As always, feel free to share with colleagues and friends.

Marcie Granahan
Executive Director
