Discipline Recovery — A Strategy Brief

from University of Nebraska-Lincoln

"Discipline recovery" is the effort to find ways of continuing education for students who have been excluded from school (e.g., suspension or expulsion) as a result of disciplinary actions. Often, these are programs or initiatives for students to complete academic work, earn credits, and remain engaged with the school. While not every state requires students to participate in these programs when they have been long-term suspended or expelled, this brief provides several examples of these programs as well as information on how these programs or initiatives can help students to be successful while away from school.
