Cancer in solid organ transplant recipients: There is still much to learn and do

Since the pioneering days of solid organ transplantation, it has been recognized that transplant recipients have an elevated risk for developing cancer. Much of this risk is due to the requirement for patients to receive lifelong immunosuppressive therapy to prevent rejection of the donor organ. AJT is launching a 12-month series of review articles on cancer in solid organ transplant recipients to foster awareness of this important problem, advance research in this area, and improve clinical outcomes for transplant recipients. more
