Study shows geographic disparities in mental health care

Mental health treatment facilities were more likely to be in low-income communities, while office-based practices were more likely to be in high-income communities. “Although more than one in five adults in the United States have a mental health disorder, more than half do not receive any treatment. Given the chronic nature of many mental health disorders, especially moderate-to-severe mental health disorders, access to ongoing outpatient specialty mental health treatment is especially important,” Janet R.
