New Oregon rule could make some coaches choose between high school, club

Most high school coaches are encouraged by the Oregon School Activities Association's upcoming tweak of the practice limitation rule, a one-year pilot program for Class 6A in 2017-18. Under the old rule, widely known as the Rule of 2, team sport coaches were limited to working with two of their athletes at a time in the offseason during the school year. Starting on the first practice date for fall, winter and spring sports, out-of-season teams will have a six-week “closed period” during which all activities are prohibited, except conditioning. more
