Since advances in fracking and horizontal drilling lowered the price of gas at the beginning of the decade, the fuel has taken the sector by storm. Last year, gas surpassed coal as the top power generation resource, and the low prices have enabled the coal-to-gas switching that’s responsible for most U.S. CO2 emission reductions to date. more
