Looking ahead to STC's online courses

from STC

STC's new asynchronous online course, Science for All: Introduction to Science Writing, taught by RIT adjunct professor Laura Jacobs, begins next Thursday! Attendees will examine the importance of science writing and communication, identify and validate resources in relevant fields of scientific study, explore the techniques of communication and literary devices used within the world of science writing, and read examples of writing in the sciences created by scientists and other talented science writers. This course runs from 17 August through 21 September. No class sessions will be held, but the instructor will be available to students for "office hours" on Thursdays.

Don't miss out on STC's brand new online course, Technical Communication for User Experience Design, running from 7 September through 12 October (Thursdays) at 11:00 AM-12:30 PM EDT (GMT-4)! This online course is taught by Rachael Burke, a PhD candidate at George Mason University. This online course will teach attendees the core UXD principles and methods, as well as strategies of user-centered design and user-centered communication. During each phased module, attendees will learn how to investigate user needs and how to responsively design for those needs while creating the technical documentation standard to the industry. Upon course completion, attendees will compile and produce a researched and tested process portfolio and recommendations report, reviewing their project's outcome and demonstrating their capacity to perform equivalent work in the future. more
