President Trump repeals flood risk management standard as part of infrastructure executive order

President Donald J. Trump on Aug. 15 signed an executive order to “ensure that the federal environmental review and permitting process for infrastructure projects is coordinated, predictable and transparent.” Part of the executive order repealed the Federal Flood Risk Management Standard (FFRMS), which was established by the Obama administration by executive order on Jan. 30, 2015, to “improve the nation’s preparedness and resilience against flooding.” The Association of State Floodplain Managers released a statement in response to the repeal of FFRMS. more
