First-ever global erosivity map shows areas most vulnerable to erosion

from Forbes

Erosion is a natural process, acting slowly but incessantly over time. Geologists estimate that wind and rain erode the surface of the continents by almost three feet every 20,000 to 40,000 years. A new map, published in an open-access paper, using rainfall data of 3,625 stations scattered across 63 countries, tries to quantify how much energy is available to erode the land surface on a given spot in a year. more
