America's poor performance on international tests could be traced all the way back to preschool

The U.S. lags behind other countries when it comes to enrolling kids in preschool, according to a report released Tuesday by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. Education at a Glance 2017 found that only 43 percent of American 3-year-olds were enrolled in preschool, compared to 73 percent for the OECD average, which is comprised of 35 member countries. For 4-year-olds, the U.S. fell even further down the list, with 66 percent preschool enrollment, compared to 87 percent for the OECD average. more
