75th Anniversary Memorial of the Cocoanut Grove Fire

Saturday Nov. 25, 2017 | 1-3pm | Liberty Hall of the Revere Hotel in Boston
The hotel in built over the footprint of the former Cocoanut Grove Fire where on the night of Nov. 28, 1942, 492 people died. EXIT signs over the doors at the Revere Hotel and all other public buildings are only one of the many safety regulations that resulted.

See Clio's Corner Massachusetts Report on Nursing March 2014 and December 2014 for the story of the heroic nurses at the Boston City Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital who cared for the severely burned men and women that night and for months to come.

Kenneth A. Marshall MD FACS, the President of the Cocoanut Grove Memorial Committee, is the son of one of those BCH nurses. Four years ago he was the catalyst along with other Bostonians in persuading the late Mayor Thomas Menino to rename the street where the Club was located Cocoanut Grove Lane.

The Revere Hotel, located at 200 Stuart Street, will host coffee and refreshments following the brief program that will discuss the changes in fire safety regulations and medical care that followed on the Cocoanut Grove Fire. Parking will be available at the Hotel's parking garage.

RSVP before Nov. 15, 2017 to more
