Minnesota scientist demoted as Scott Pruitt reshuffles EPA advisory boards

from Star Tribune

Deborah Swackhamer, a prominent water chemist, was dumped as chair of a key science panel at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently as part of a dramatic restructuring of how the agency gets scientific advice. Swackhamer, a retired University of Minnesota professor, has drawn the public spotlight this year for sharpy criticizing EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt.

Note: Please join us for the inaugural SETAC Town Hall from 7–9 p.m. on Tuesday, 14 November, at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis. A panel of scientists, which includes Deborah Swackhamer, will answer questions about "What's in Your Water? Using Science — Informed Problem Solving to Protect our Most Valuable Resource." more
