Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats to global health. Nearly 2 million Americans per year develop hospital-acquired infections, resulting in 99,000 deaths — the majority of which are caused by bacteria that are resistant to multiple antibiotics. Resistance to antibiotics can be attributed to the overuse and misuse of these medications.
