Oklahoma researchers look to robots to care for aging boomers

In the next decade, Grandma's in-home caregiver could be a robot. The number of people age 60 or older is projected to grow by 56 percent worldwide by 2030, according to the United Nations. But, the number of caregivers is not expected to keep up with the demand. In 2010, there were more than seven potential caregivers for every person in the high-risk years of 80-plus, according to a 2013 report released by AARP.
