Cornwall/SDG paramedic service working to lower call volumes to avoid hiring more staff

from Standard-Freeholder.com

The Cornwall/SDG paramedic service is facing an inevitable need to expand its complement of paramedics as residents age and service calls increase, or else it won’t be able to meet the response times the city has set out. Despite this, the acting chief of Cornwall/SDG Paramedic Services Wayne Markell has not requested the City of Cornwall provide additional funding to hire more paramedics, putting a draft 2018 budget together that includes a 2.4 per cent increase in spending, with the city’s share of that at just over $86,000. The only increase proposed in staffing is additional part-time hours for a technician. more
