2018 has arrived!

from CASE

We hope you had a great holiday, filled with family, friends, reflections, rest, and most likely a little work—the operative word there is little! As a deep south, southerner, it was a bit of a shock to start 2018 with snow on the ground but it was fun! We had traveled to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and had just enough snow to make it pretty but not debilitating! Now things are back to the hectic normal! As I reflected on this upcoming year, I know we are in for another wild ride! Our executive committee led by President Elect Wolfram have been working on revising our CASE By-Laws to be voted on at our membership meeting in Tampa, Feb. 7. Our policy committee led by Erin Maguire is working to give you more resources at your finger tips as issues pop up both nationally and regionally. We will be publishing our next Lucky 21 in the next few months. We will be having our CASE election for a new President Elect and Treasurer. We will be experiencing CEC in February for the first time ever and that is sure to shake up the calendar! Our Winter Hybrid will be right around the corner on March 8-9 and should be the best one ever for the virtual sites to really make sustainable change at the local/regional areas! All of that only takes us to March! We have already started planning for the CASE/CEC July Legislative Summit in D.C.! With the pollical issues, you absolutely need to be planning to attend (July 8-11). Kindel Mason and his professional development committee are working hard on not just the Hybrid but our upcoming fall conference in Biloxi, Mississippi, (Nov. 8-10). Whew, tires me out just talking about it all! And I haven't even mentioned our newsletter and of course the weekly update! Stay connected and stay active — we need you more than ever and we hope you know we are here for you!

Speaking of CEC — Have you registered? The CEC convention in Tampa, Florida, Feb. 7-10 and the program will be amazing! This will be a conference you do not want to miss. Check out all the information from programs to hotels to workshops at the dedicated conference website. But, remember, you want to come in on Tuesday so you can have a full, free breakfast before our CASE meeting, Wednesday Feb. 7. CASE always has a great presence at the convention. Be sure to check out all of the CASE activities at CEC. Hope to see you there!

CASE NIGHT tickets are on sale and going fast! We are so excited about this year's CASE Night — a dinner cruise on Tampa Bay! The boat will leave just steps away from the convention center so no added transportation. Tickets will be $65 but remember it is sponsored so for that amount, you are really getting an event that is worth much more! Our very special sponsors are Star Autism and Sonday System! The tickets are limited so get your tickets today!

We usually have the CASE Hybrid in February but since CEC is in February this year, we are doing it the first full week in March. If you haven't looked at the Hybrid as a great professional learning opportunity for your school/district, then you need to re-think about it! We even will give you Hints on how to get it all together! This year we will once again have two extraordinary speakers and two different subjects — so you may want to invite different folks on the different days. Remember you pay one low price and can have as many as you can accommodate in your session! Last year we had 99 virtual sites in 36 different states! But of course, you can join us on-site at the lovely Westin Hilton Head Island, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Register today – and don't forget to add in the DVD for future use!

We will be continuing our theme of shortages with our poll... Be sure answer question this week because this is a very important issue. Our CASE representatives will be discussing recruitment, retention and shortages in general at the CEC Convention in the Representative Assembly(RA). Thank you for answering the polls each week. It means a lot to us to get a feeling of what our members and friends (because we know some of you are NOT members — but you could be) are thinking!

Again we hope 2018 will be a great year for you both personally and professionally. Anything that CASE can do for you to make this your best year ever, please let us know!
