Wyoming wildlife experts cautiously optimistic about order conserving migration routes

from Green Valley News

Researchers have been tracking these migrations in Wyoming for more than a decade. Maps compiled by GPS data fill books with lines in purple, orange and green showing where elk, deer and pronghorn walk in search of an easier season. These migrations traipse into other states, as well. And they need our help, experts say. That is why, earlier this year, the Secretary of Interior announced a secretarial order on big game migration. The order is meant to enhance and improve wildlife corridors across federal land with the ultimate goal of boosting herd sizes for hunters and wildlife watchers. Many in Wyoming and across the West believe this is a welcome sign from an administration that does not have a track record of always protecting wild spaces. more
