Brown water pilot program a success says OCWA

Officials from Ontario Clean Water Agency have determined a Chlorine Dioxide treatment system installed at the water filtration plant which is designed to alleviate much of the town's brown water problem, has been successful. In a report that will be presented at the recent council meeting. OCWA officials write "The full scale chlorine dioxide pilot system for the removal of iron and manganese for the Kirkland Lake WTP was a success. In terms of iron, the system performed as well as pre-chlorination and was able to remove iron to below the detectable limit and well below the aesthetic objective concentration." more
