SIPs are superior, and there is proof

from SIPA

SelectSIPs Magazine (Issue 2) – "SIPs are Superior; Cut Labor Costs, Save Time and Money!"

Residential building contractors are under ever-increasing pressure to provide higher performance homes to meet new codes at lower cost and in a shorter amount of time.

At the time, much of the time saving evidence of the superiority of SIPs over conventional framing, insulation and wiring methods was largely anecdotal, so the goal of this study was to quantify those benefits in terms of labor and cost savings. It was anticipated that the functionality of SIPs would give the product a natural advantage over conventional construction, but the extent of that advantage turned out to be significant, with overall labor cost savings reported of up to 55 percent.

These savings were established before considering new, additional time requirements for both air sealing and exterior continuous insulation (CI) needed for conventional framing to meet today's evolving codes and SIPs already has them "built in." SIPs are considered continuous insulation already and consistently provide less than 3 air changes per hour (ACH50) air leakage!
