ASA Advocacy Team Not Slowing Down

from Catherine Treadwell, J.D., Director of Government Relations

This week on The Hill, the ASA Advocacy Team attended several big events. We kicked off the week with a reception for Karin Housley who is running for Senate in Minnesota. Karin Housley is pro-business minded and believes in building a very strong economy. At this reception, ASA Advocacy Team was able to connect with Secretary of Transportation, Elaine E. Chao and explain the issues of transportation that is effecting some of our members. Also, in attendance was Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senator John Barrasso (R-WY). Senator Barrasso is on the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources (Energy), Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), Committee on Indian Affairs, and Committee on Foreign Relations.

Tuesday the Advocacy Team went to lunch with Congresswoman McSally (R-AZ). She is running for Senate in Arizona, but currently is on the Committee on Armed Services and the Committee on Homeland Security. McSally graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy and after training to fly the A- 10 Warthog, flew her first combat mission to Iraq while deployed from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in 1995. During that assignment, she flew nearly 100 combat hours in support of Operation Southern Watch in the Middle East. She is pro-business and supports Tax Reform 2.0. Later the same day, the team attended a reception for Matt Rosendale who is running for Senate in Montana. Rosendale served as the Majority Leader of the state of Montana’s legislature. He is in favor of repealing and replacing ObamaCare and extremely pro-business, growing the economy, and creating even more jobs. more
