In an era where Americans seem increasingly at each other's throats, Defense Secretary James Mattis has a simple idea for bridging the gulf between the civilian and military worlds: Be excellent to each other. OK, perhaps Mattis didn't actually invoke "Bill & Ted" when he appeared at the Reagan National Defense Forum recently.
