Henry rifles: An American classic

from NRA Family

There is no more truly American firearm than the lever-action rifle. The gun was developed more than a century and a half ago, in the late 1850s, when a young gunsmith by the name of Benjamin Tyler Henry was hired by Oliver Winchester of the New Haven Arms Company. Henry was tasked with improving an earlier design of one of Winchester’s repeating rifles. After three years of tinkering, testing and tweaking, Henry produced and patented the rifle that retains his name yet today. more
