Update from SIO Cooperative Group Task Force

from SIO

Dear SIO members,

As we strategize for the future of Interventional Oncology, we have opportunity to collaborate closely with some of the NCI Cooperative Groups to promote combination treatment concepts and trials. SIO has already made tremendous strides within ECOG-ACRIN, establishing the first Interventional Oncology Working Group and liaising with the relevant GI Working Groups, (Hepatobiliary, CRC, NET, Surgery). In addition, interventional oncologists have been appointed to the NCTN Task Forces for CRC and NET.

We are working next with SWOG, and soliciting volunteers. Your activities will include scheduled calls, attending SWOG meetings and developing/participating in concepts and trials.

For those who are interested, this opportunity and your efforts will bring innovative combination treatment concepts/trials, enhancement of our patients’ care and your leadership in cutting edge interventional oncologic care.

If you are from a SWOG institution and/or you work closely with oncology partners affiliated with SWOG and interested in taking part, please let us know.

The next SWOG meeting will be in San Francisco, April 24-27, 2019.

Best wishes,

Kevin Kim, MD, SIO Cooperative Group Task Force
