Register for May 16 Webinar — The Wired Driver: A Discussion of Biometric Sensing in Motorsport

May plays host to one of the greatest racing spectacles in the world—the Indy 500. In the racing spirit, this month’s Brown Bag webinar features Edward Potkanowicz, Ph.D., and a discussion on new technologies in the motorsport racing community, as well as the use of biometric sensors to assess physiological stressors experienced by drivers during competition.

Dr. Potkanowicz is an associate professor of exercise physiology at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. His research examines the body’s thermoregulatory response to environmental stressors during sport performance. Dr. Potkanowicz has a keen interest in uncovering and/or developing strategies for improving driver performance as it relates to managing core body temperature and the driver's physiological response to the microenvironment of the cockpit. He is the principal investigator of the ongoing racing research project entitled "Real Assessment of Core and Environmental Responses" (R.A.C.E.R.).

Mark your calendar and plan to join us from noon – 1 p.m. EDT on Thursday, May 16. Register for free today.

Each month, ACSM’s Brown Bag series provides students and professionals with an opportunity to learn more about the diverse science ACSM members conduct. Join us for these informal discussions with ACSM members and hear more about what they study, the general research methodology they use and some of the interesting results their research generates. more
