REG presents at NORA Workshop

from Renewable Energy Group

Early last month, heating oil industry leaders came together for the National Oilheat Research Alliance’s 2019 Technical Review & Research Planning Workshop at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Melville, NY.

Representing REG at this important event was Dave Slade, Executive Director, Biofuel Technology & Services. As biofuels have become an increasingly critical part of heating oil’s path to a low-carbon future, Slade was on hand to discuss some of the many exciting innovations happening in biofuel research, development, technology and infrastructure. Slade also discussed improvements that are being made to address fuel-quality concerns, following up on his presentation from last year's workshop, which focused on the "Impact of Copper on Fuels." Over the past heating season, many heating oil dealers have successfully incorporated B20 Bioheat fuel into their product lines without running into significant equipment issues. To that end, REG continues to work with NORA and other heating oil industry stakeholders on mission-critical research and development.

In addition to this research, the two-day workshop offered a number of informative presentations with plenty of food for thought for all in attendance. If there was one common theme among all of these presentations, it is that the heating oil industry faces significant challenges in the years ahead but has a clear and sustainable pathway to a low-carbon future.

REG is excited to partner with the heating oil industry as a part of that future, and we look forward to many great opportunities with the people and businesses that make our industries stronger together.
