New bail reforms announced by the Missouri Supreme Court took effect July 1. Now, if a defendant can't afford bail, a judge can't keep them in jail until their court date. Instead, courts will explore other bond conditions. According to the Chief Justice of the Missouri Supreme Court, the changes will allow people to take care of their families while they're going through the legal process. more
