Feds give $1.65 million to University of Guelph smart soil project

from Guelph Mercury

A project to develop soils that can both grow crops and stem greenhouse gases has received more than a million dollars in federal funding. The project, led by University of Guelph professor Claudia Wagner-Riddle, has received $1.65 million from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council. According to a post on the university’s website, the six-year project “is the first soil-centred program to address a growing need for sustainable agriculture experts to improve food production while preserving soils and ensuring resilience to climate change.” more
