The use of heat sterilization for critical and semicritical instruments results in a higher certainty of safety for patients. In an attempt to save money, lawmakers last session rolled back dental providers' 4.5 percent cost of living increase to 2007 levels -- but they intended to exclude from that calculation a one-time 30 percent jump they received in 2008 to bring them up to a break-even level, explained Sen.
