AAOS Survey on the ICD-10 Transition
    AAOE
AAOS has been actively planning for the federally mandated ICD-10 coding upgrade effective Oct. 1, 2014. Industry experts suggest that, "the bottom line of an office will be only minimally impacted if the office has anticipated, learned, and prepared for the changes as well as for the potential setbacks." AAOS is conducting this survey to assess orthopaedic practices current preparation for the ICD-10 transition.

The survey requires less than 5 minutes of your time to complete. The deadline for completing the survey is May 15, 2013. Your input will help the AAOS develop educational programs and resources to assist orthopaedic practices with the ICD-10 transition. The information you provide will not be disseminated to any third party and all reporting will be in aggregate. If you have any questions, please contact Jackie Ryan, MPA Manager, Practice Management at ryan@aaos.org or 847-384-4334. Thank you in advance for your time and participation in this study.

Being in the healthcare staffing industry, we hear often from our clients about how they are preparing. After all, physicians aren't made or recruited overnight. Healthcare providers should keep the following statistics in mind while updating their physician recruiting and retention strategy.

How physician practices should handle malpractice tail
    Physicians News Digest
For years and years, malpractice "tail" has been a thorn in the side of medical practices and their physician employees. To review, there are two basic types of malpractice insurance: occurrence and claims-made. Tail is never an issue with occurrence insurance, because there is no tail to be purchased. However, that is not the case with claims-made coverage.
