AAOE membership: The orthopaedic deal of the day
Jill Yates, RN, ONC    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
I'm not sure about you but when I was younger, I didn't say, "When I grow up I’m going to be an orthopaedic administrator." I moved into this role as a spin-off from my real job as an orthopaedic nurse. I was guilty of making those all knowing statements like "if I was in charge ..." but never anticipated actually being that person. More

This article — the first in a three-part series — addresses contracting tips that will help you leverage your power and increase your chances of negotiating an advantageous provider contract. More

CNBC    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Neurosurgeon Dr. Thomas Melin has been frustrated for about 25 years in practice with expensive and inefficient bone grafting surgeries. Until recently, it has been a very messy business. Which is why North Carolina-based Melin and his longtime friend and physician assistant, Sean Hensler, conceived of and launched the "Hensler Bone Press," which filters bone and compresses it so that it may be immediately used for grafts and returned to the body. Law or no law, some states adopt healthcare reform
Reuters    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
If the Supreme Court overturns President Barack Obama's healthcare reform law in June, Americans without health coverage may get some relief anyway — especially if they live in Rhode Island, Maryland or Oregon. These states are at the head of the pack in implementing the Affordable Care Act, and they were working to expand health coverage well before the law was passed. If the law is thrown out by the high court, these states — and others supportive of the law's goals — will keep pursuing reforms. More
