    FDA warns codeine may be harmful for kids who just had surgery

    The Food and Drug Administration issued a warning to caregivers and health professionals about using codeine on children following surgery. The warning comes after three children died and one experienced life-threatening symptoms after taking the medication to alleviate pain from tonsils and/or adenoids removal surgery. More

    Use of electronic health records is snowballing, and so is the number of unhappy users. Half of EHR systems sold to physician practices are now replacements, up from 30 percent last year, according to a recent study. The leading reason for switching systems, cited by 44 percent of practices, is product issues. More

    New operating rules regulating electronic claims transaction services in the healthcare industry are aimed at enrolling more physician practices in these time- and money-saving programs, officials say.
