It's hard to believe that 2014 is just around the corner so it is time to mark your calendar now for the 2014 AAOE Annual Conference. The meeting will be held in Washington D.C., at the historic Washington Hilton from May 31, 2014, through June 3, 2014. The Annual Conference Committee recently met at the conference hotel to begin the planning process. As a key part of this planning process the committee utilized the responses from the 2013 Conference Survey and the Loyalty Survey, to ensure that your 2014 conference experience incorporates your feedback and input.

Infection prevention: Is your practice meeting the minimum expectations for safe care?
    AAOE
The past few decades has seen a shift of healthcare delivery from more traditional hospital settings to ambulatory or outpatient care facilities, including physician offices. As a result of this trend, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released infection prevention guidance specifically intended for the outpatient setting. The purpose of the Guide to Infection Prevention in Outpatient Settings: Minimum Expectations for Safe Care is to establish a universal standard of care to minimize or eliminate the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) in ambulatory care settings.

Patellofemoral pain syndrome: Assessment and treatment
    By Heidi Dawson
Patellofemoral pain syndrome — or anterior knee pain or runner's knee as it is sometimes known — is one of the most common injuries sustained by runners, but conversely one of the least well understood. This is true for all aspects of the injury, including where the pain is originating from, the cause of the injury and, of course, how it should be rehabilitated. In this article we look at some of the most recent research regarding PFPS to try to demystify the condition.

If your practice currently generates over $3 million of revenue and you would like to increase profits, reduce taxes, protect assets and add flexibility to practice buy-ins and buy-outs, then this article should be of high interest.
