Steven Siwek Jr. founded Medical Marketing Solutions in 2009 to help market his father's medical practice. The company has since grown to include medical practices and hospitals across the country. He assists with both traditional and digital media marketing, which many offices find helpful as reimbursements continue to decline and practice responsibilities don't let up. Siwek discusses five steps to building a strong medical marketing program. More

HealthLeaders Media    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Longtime veterans of healthcare can easily remember a previous time of intense change in healthcare in the form of managed care in the 1990s. Reuters    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Over the next 18 months, between one-quarter and one half of Americans who get insurance coverage through their employers will pay more of their doctor bills themselves as companies roll out healthcare plans with higher deductibles, benefits consultants say. The result: sticker shock. Studies show people on these plans are three times more likely to delay or skip care than people on traditional plans, where doctor or emergency room visits are covered by a relatively low co-payment. NPR    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
No matter who wins the election Nov. 6, official Washington will have to deal with something called the fiscal cliff before the end of the year. What's coming is a perfect storm of expiring tax cuts, scheduled budget cuts and various other spending changes scheduled to take place Jan. 1 unless Congress and President Barack Obama — who, no matter what, will still be president until next Jan. 20 — agree on a way to avert them.
