Investigators believe a woman who was smoking in bed inadvertently started a fire at a Tempe, Ariz., apartment complex. According to firefighters on the scene, the woman was smoking in bed when she fell asleep. The building's sprinkler system helped contain the flames to the woman's apartment. More

A fire at Christchurch, New Zealand, airport closed surrounding roads, but was out before the fire engines arrived. Three fire engines were sent to a blaze at the Christchurch Engine Center. But center general manager Mike Eller said the sprinklers had been activated and extinguished the fire before the firefighters arrived. More
