Colorado Anti-Shale Energy Forces Stand Down (For Now)
Energy Equipment & Infrastructure Alliance
We are pleased to report that on Monday the opponents of oil and gas development in Colorado agreed to take down their fall election ballot initiatives that would have amended the Colorado constitution to severely restrict or prevent oil and gas operations in Colorado. Your support of EEIA's work in Colorado was an essential component of this equation and helped produced the outcome. Thanks to you, the immediate fight subsides, and at least for now Colorado energy production and its supply chain members' markets will continue to develop in a strong positive direction.

Beschloss: Does Increased US Oil Production Hold Hope for Lower 'Pump Prices'?
The Desert Sun
One of the most-asked questions and also least clarified, is "why have oil prices quadrupled over the last decade, with U.S. demand lower and production on the upswing." Since 2007, U.S. oil demand has declined by 2 million barrels per day, while "fracking-induced" production has risen by 3 million barrels per day, simultaneously. This has reduced the difference between U.S. consumption and U.S. production — which was 13.6 million BPD in 2007, to under 9 million BPD by the end of 2013. This still leaves a major import gap, which must be consummated by overseas purchases.

Leading experts from the industry have been quite hopeful about rising figures and the recovery of the market. But a recent survey paints a different picture of consumer confidence. According to the survey, most Americans don't feel that the housing and mortgage crisis is really over.
