Texas Children's Hospital in Houston opened the doors of its brand new Simulation Center, where health care teams will be trained in the management of rare, complex and complicated patient care through a simulated clinical environment. The facility is the only center of its kind in Texas, and one of the largest among the twelve pediatric simulation centers in the United States.

The University of Hawaii has received $28 million to start planning and designing the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii's long-awaited Kakaako facility. The funding, which
is part of more than $200 million Gov. Linda Lingle released for UH construction and campus improvement projects, is the first cash infusion being made to jump-start the cancer center project, which has been delayed for years.

Memorial Health System officials and the architectural design team will meet to review an expansion project planned for Memorial Hospital in Abilene, Kan. During the monthly meeting of the Memorial Health System board of directors, administrator Mark Miller said the review is necessary as part of the planning process to finalize many details. Memorial Health
System is planning a 43,000-square foot expansion and renovation project estimated to cost between $15 million to $20 million.
