Sustainable Design Winners Selected for the 2010 EMA Awards

It was stiff competition and an impressive array of work displayed at the 2010 Earth-Minded Awards this month, but four talented competitors stood out from the crowd with their unique and dynamic sustainable design creations. Projects demonstrating a successful pairing of sustainable innovation and aesthetically pleasing design were selected as winners of the 2010 Earth-Minded Award for Hospitality.

New study urges caution in self-service kiosks

More and more hotels have implemented self-service kiosks, allowing guests to skip the traditional check-in process altogether. A new hospitality study from Cornell's Center for Hospitality Research (CHR) reveals that when self-service functions correctly, it does enhance guest satisfaction and improves hotels' financial results. However, when a problem occurs with the self-service computer system, guests are far less willing to return, much less pay a premium rate. More
