ASID IDBI Hits Highest Level Since May 2014
ASID
The ASID Interior Design Billings Index for April reports a billings score increase of 3.3 points (57.7 to 61), and an inquiries score increase of 8.8 points (58.8 to 67.6). Index values above 50 indicate growth. These increases signal a positive outlook for the interior design industry. The inquiries index stands above its three month average, while the IDBI is at its highest reading since May 2014. Firms in the Northeast have improved each month since January, but the IDBI is still below 50 and may be attributable to the harsh winter. Conversely, the South is very high, as it was not affected by the inclement winter weather.

Applying Pressure: The Cost of Neglecting Research Just Went Up
Architect Magazine
For the past five years, evidenced-based design has been a key to the success of architecture firm EDR. Performing routine checkups (keeping tabs on energy bills) and deeper dives (quantifying the success or failure of collaborative space) strengthens the case for research and provides results that are both trivial and profound. While research can become a budget line item, it certainly beats wasting money on hunches.

Getting to Know HENRY — Possibly Your Next Best Client

Lately, HENRYs have caught the attention of the luxury market. HENRYs are on a trajectory to becoming ultra-affluent or wealthy and thus long-term customers of luxury goods and services. 5 Reasons Why Realistic Photo Renderings Can Help Your Project Succeed
Interiors & Sources
For centuries, architects and designers have relied on two-dimensional drawings to share their ideas. These sketches got the job done, but had many flaws when trying to convey ideas to people without a technical understanding of them. They provided adequate direction on how to build a project, but offered minimal help to our 3-D brains in conceptualizing how the finished product would look. Thankfully, rapid improvements in 3-D rendering technology have made the process more efficient, effective, and affordable than ever.

Sustainable design and operation have come to be expected as baselines for responsibility and ethics in business practice of most kinds.
