Competition deadlines approaching

Monday, Oct. 3, is the deadline for submitting grant proposals to the ASID Andrus Foundation for its Transformations Interior Design Research Grants program. Research projects must focus on how interior design impacts human behavior and well-being. For more information and to download an application, visit the ASID Foundation website.

Design educators only have until Nov. 1 to get their homework done and submit their A-level designs to the ASID Educator Design Excellence Competition. Three awards will be given in each category, Residential and Commercial. To qualify, educators must have at least a 50 percent teaching appointment in the U.S. when the work on projects for submitted competition entries is completed. The luxury train experience will undergo a revival with the Greenbrier Presidential Express, scheduled to launch in July 2012. The 15-car train will accommodate up to 240 passengers and will feature a boardroom car, salon car and even an open-air car. "We want to bring The Greenbrier experience to Washington, D.C., and bring back the glamour of rail travel," said Jim Justice, chairman and owner of The Greenbrier.
