Walmart Stores Inc., seeking to curb opioid abuse, will offer its pharmacy customers a product that disposes of unwanted or expired prescription drugs.
Even if she wanted to, Chatham resident Emma Washington, 77, cannot skip going to the pharmacy — she relies on 12 medications to stay alive. Most are for the high blood pressure she’s had since she was 19, she said, others for her worsening kidney condition and diabetes.

In treating stroke patients, every minute counts. A drug called rtPA sometimes can stop a stroke in its tracks. Now a new study has found that having a pharmacist at the patient's bedside can reduce the time it takes to administer rtPA by a median of 23.5 minutes.
