Hotel BPM, a new Sunset Park hotel whose name is inspired by the musical term, "beats per minute," is a new boutique hotel created by DJ BIJAL. He envisions a "lifestyle brand" for the music-loving traveler. Because of its creator's background, music and music entertainment culture are integral to the hotel's identity. Beats will be channeled through the hotel's Bose central sound system at all hours in public spaces.

The MissoniHome line is extremely popular to those who love color, stripes and chevrons in their interiors and of course, the brand is famous for its knit fabrics, pillows, towels, etc. It has two eponymous hotels devoted to its interior looks in Edinburgh and Kuwait. Just announced is the 645-unit Acqua Livingstone tower in Manila, the Philippines, as the first residential building in the world for the Missonis to fully equip.

Head to Marylebone's Chiltern Street, and you'll find a cute central London street lined with petite shops like luxe French candlemaker Cire Trudon, and the long locked-up, gothic red brick fire station under intensive construction. Hotel industry folks are near hysterical at what's being done to the fire station, since it's now on its way to becoming the first London hotel to be opened by famously stylish hotelier, André Balazs.

It looks like Kimpton Hotels are on a roll in picking up new hotels. One of the newest hotels in their collection is the RiverPlace Hotel in Portland, Ore., on the banks of the Williamette River. It boasts free WiFi, an evening wine tasting, the Kimpton Pets program, and a riverview courtyard and deck.

Santa Barbara's Canary Hotel has changed hands, after Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants finalized an estimated $40 million deal. The San Francisco-based hotel company acquired the 97-room boutique hotel along with its attached eatery, Coast Restaurant and Bar.
