Once again the U.S. is being tantalized by powerful diesel BMWs we'll never see. You'd think that there'd be some way to get them into this country, as diesel engines are proven performers and a significant part of the European car market. It seems unlike BMW to leave money on the table, but there it is — again. Now BMW has announced its line of diesel-powered M Performance vehicles to be launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March. BMWBLOG just learned that the long-time rumored BMW 3 Series GT will come to market in March 2013. According to a BMW source the 3 Series GT features more attractive and sleeker lines than its older brother, the 5 GT, but it maintains a somewhat bulky look. The 3 GT is said to offer same trunk space as the 5 Series Sedan and interesting enough, more legroom. More

BMW and Tendril, an energy management company, are developing a fully wired home to house the automaker's electric ActiveE sedan. The companies announced that they would build a demo home at BMW's technology office in Mountain View, Calif., where the automaker would refine battery charging and monitoring of the ActiveE, a limited-production, lease-only electric vehicle based on the 1 Series. The two-year project, which will include smart thermostats, solar panels, lighting and appliances, is expected to be completed by the end of March, although renderings of the home's design were not released by either company. BMW M3 DTM returns with Castrol EDGE and Aral livery

BMW will return to the German Touring Car series with six BMW M3 DTM cars in 2012 and one of the cars will carry the colors of Castrol EDGE and Aral Ultimate. This sponsorship marks the continuation of the existing, long-term partnership between Castrol and BMW Motorsport. Aral Ultimate is a first time partner of BMW Motorsport in the DTM. More
