AutoWeek
Share

For the launch of the new Z4 sDrive 28i, BMW brought out a bit of a history in the Z1, which started the company on its trip down the roadster path. The car came from the company's collection
in Munich. With only 10,000 miles showing on the odometer, journalists were turned loose with just a gentle word of caution to try and not break anything.

BMW 328 Hommage honors the original at Pebble Beach, Calif.
Share

First unveiled at the 'other' concours (Ville d'Este), the BMW 328 Hommage concept made an appearance at Pebble Beach, Calif., along side its muse. Taking the finest details of the 1930's race car and
applying them to an ultra-modern design concept, the 328 Hommage weighs just 1,700 lbs thanks to an extensive use of carbon fiber.
Key similarities between the two vehicles include the elongated BMW grille and the dish wheels, while the Hommage has a notable absence of doors, much like the original 328 race car.

Auto Spies

Along the lines of Audi and its packaging playbook, it seems that BMW is going to be offering its next-generation 3-Series in three different types of trim. Although these are merely rumblings at this
point, speculation has the trims named the Sport Line, Modern Line and Luxury Line. But don't be surprised to hear if that changes to something else, or the Sport Line, Urban Line and Deluxe Line.

The BMW design house has traditionally skipped generations to complete both evolutions, and revolutions of their cars. Alternating back and forth, the E46 was a safe (and handsome) evolutionary step from the E36, while the E90 broke the mold and found a revolutionary "flame" inspired new shape.

BMW M5 diesel
USA Today

That remarkable diesel engine in BMW's 3-series sedan is to get a power upgrade and make an appearance in the BMW M5 sedan next spring. The M5 diesel will have three turbochargers, he says, rather than
two that are fitted to the 3-series diesel. Most diesel purveyors are only putting a single turbo on theirs. Multiple turbos means a maker can provide a small one to respond fast and eliminate turbo lag, and one or more big ones to really pack in the air for higher-speed power that's somewhere north of ridiculous.

Why won't BMW sell its full 1-Series lineup to Canadians?
The Globe and Mail

If, after all, BMW can manage to earn a profit of more than $4-billion for the second quarter and if owners say they love what BMW makes — the BMW
brand finished third in the 2011 J.D. Power and Associates APEAL (Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout) study, which is a so-called "things gone right" bit of research — then why can't BMW solve the problem of how to make the entire 1-Series lineup viable and sellable in Canada?
