How labs can recognize and overcome its negative effects
American Association for Clinical Chemistry
Share

In the laboratory, producing accurate and timely patient test results depends on teamwork, communication and a collaborative work environment. However, laboratory staff who display intimidating and disruptive behaviors can quickly destabilize this cooperative environment and negatively impact patient safety. The Joint Commission advises health care organizations to confront behavior problems in order to promote a culture
of safety and efficient team performance.

It's not what you say, but how you say it
BNET

Communication is about content and delivery, 50-50. But when it comes to leadership, it's all about the delivery. Of course what you say matters, but how you say it, how you relate to folks, is what
differentiates great leaders from the pack. That means you can have innovative ideas, indeed you must, but if you can't deliver them in a way that connects with people and relates to them in a meaningful way, you won't get results.

Do your people really know what you expect from them?
Fast Company

When you first employ people, relationships start off very clear. Both you and the new employees have a clear sense of what their contractual duties are and what they are being paid for. Over time,
however, many work roles begin to devolve into emotional-based or activity-based relationships. When that happens, managers find themselves spending the majority of their time supporting or empathizing with employees who are not producing at agreed-upon levels.

Diagnose and eliminate workplace bullying
Harvard Business Review
Share

Workplace bullying is defined commonly as individuals or groups who use aggressive or unreasonable tactics against co-workers or subordinates persistently. Bullying is not conflict, a personality clash,
or being chewed out by a boss. It's not getting handed work you don't want to do. And it's important to remember that not every workplace-bullying claim is true — just because employees are upset, imbalanced or overworked does not mean bullying is taking place.
