Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority has been given the green light by the Federal Transit Administration to proceed this year with the $1.7 billion Crenshaw/LAX light rail line running between the Expo Line on Exposition Boulevard and the Green Line at Aviation/LAX. The Nevada Department of Transport is going to slide a couple of bridges starting soon and is inviting the public to watch. Skanska has entered into a design-build contract with Herzog Contracting and Shimmick Construction to construct an extension of the Bay Area Rapid Transit system spanning 16 km in California. Skanska USA Building Inc., a construction-management and design-build company based in Blue Bell, Pa., has been awarded a $60 million contract to continue renovation work it began at Janssen Research & Development L.L.C., in Spring House in 2004. The latest project with Janssen, an affiliate of Johnson & Johnson, involves renovation to 180,000 square feet of office space to create modern and progressive laboratory upgrades, Skanska said. Monmouth County, N.J., Request for Proposals # REC-2012-1 (RFP) Monmouth County, N.J., is soliciting proposals for the design, construction and long-term operation and maintenance of a 150,000-gpd landfill leachate pretreatment facility and related improvements at the Monmouth County Reclamation Center located in Tinton Falls, N.J. The RFP may be obtained from the Purchasing Department, 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold, N.J. 07728, telephone number 732-431-7370, or at http://co.monmouth.nj.us/downloadbid2.aspx. Sealed responses to the RFP must be received by 10:30 a.m. (Eastern time) on April 10, 2012.
